Daily Market Highlights (07.07.15)

  • The MSE Share Index was relatively unchanged today at 4,105.179 points as the gains in HSBC, RS2 Software, MIA, GO and 6pm were counterbalanced by declines in Lombard and Mapfre Middlesea.   • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged 0.1% higher to 1,111.804 points following a drop in yields across the eurozone as Greece heads to restart negotiations with its international creditors at a meeting of Eurozone finance ministers scheduled to be held later on today.
  • Elsewhere, Mediterranean Investments Holding plc last week published a Prospectus in connection with a new €20 million bond at a coupon of 5.5% maturing in 2020. The bond is earmarked to finance the redemption of the maturing 7.5% bonds.
  • Further bids emerged for the shares of RS2 Software plc with the equity jumping by a further 2.3% to reach yet another all-time high of €2.20 across six deals totalling 28,600 shares. RS2 generally publishes its interim results by the end of August.
  • Similarly, the share of GO plc trended higher for the fourth consecutive session with a further 0.9% rise across 10,553 shares to close at the €3.50 level for the first time since November 2006. The telecoms quad-play operator is scheduled to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 22 July during which shareholders will be asked to approve a number of resolutions in connection with a proposed spin-off of the Group’s property subsidiary.
  • HSBC Bank Malta plc also performed positively with the equity edging 0.6% higher to regain the €1.80 level on volumes of 18,766 shares. HSBC will be publishing its interim results on 3 August.
  • Similarly, the equity of Malta International Airport plc rebounded by 0.3% to recapture the €3.38 level on low volumes of 7,140 shares.
  • The only other active equity was 6pm Holdings plc with a 4.8% uplift to the GBP0.76 level on a single trade of 1,000 shares.
  • On the other hand, in contrast to the recent gains, the share price of Mapfre Middlesea plc slumped 6.7% back to the €1.67 level across three trades totalling 10,000 shares.
  • Also in the financial sector, Lombard Bank Malta plc’s equity retreated by 2% back to the €1.821 level albeit on shallow volumes of 5,686 shares.
  • Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc maintained the €2.301 level across six deals totalling 11,806 shares. Likewise, MaltaPost plc held on to its previous closing price of €1.50 on a small trade of 289 shares.
