  • On the bond market, the RF MGS Index moved 0.2% higher to 1,133.121 points as the 10-year German Bund yield fell from 0.61% back to the 0.56% level. The drop in yields reflects the largest monthly decline in German export data since the 2008/09 financial crisis on the back of the economic slowdown in China and other emerging markets. This compounded growth fears after Europe’s largest economy also recently revealed a drop in industrial orders.
  • Lombard Bank Malta plc continued with its recent positive trend as it inched 1.8% higher to a new multi-year high of €2.22 across 20,086 shares. The last time that the Bank’s equity traded at this level was in early January 2012.
  • HSBC Bank Malta plc and Bank of Valletta plc also closed in positive territory. HSBC edged 1.1% higher to regain the €1.83 level across 11,404 shares. On the other hand, 14,738 BOV shares changed hands at the €2.38 level, which is 0.8% higher than yesterday’s closing price. Last month marked the end of the BOV Group’s financial year with the preliminary results generally published by the end of October. Recently, the Bank also announced that it lodged an application with the Listing Authority for a subordinated debt issuance programme of a maximum of €150 million over the next twelve months. Further details will be issued in the Prospectus and Final Terms once approval is granted.
  • Meanwhile, all other traded equities closed the day lower. The worst performing equity was FIMBank plc as the trade specialist lost 2.0% to the USD0.451 level across 42,200 shares.
  • Both Malta International Airport plc and RS2 Software plc continued to retreat further from their respective all-time highs. MIA eased 0.8% to close at the €3.80 level across 13,320 shares. • International Hotel Investments plc lost 0.6% to close this morning’s session at the €0.795 on volumes of 5,049 shares.
