Daily Market Highlights (10.06.15)

  • The MSE Share Index extended its recent positive run as it exceeded the 4,000 points level for the first time in 7 years. The local equity benchmark edged a further 1.3% higher during this morning’s session to close at 4,021.414 points reflecting the uplift in a number of equities.   • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index slid a further 0.3% back to 1,128.76 points as the benchmark 10-year Eurozone yields surpassed the 1% level for the first time since September 2014.
  • Today’s outperformer was International Hotel Investments plc as the equity jumped 10% to regain its 2015 high of €0.88 albeit on a single trade of 1,000 shares. Tomorrow the IHI Group is scheduled to hold its Annual General Meeting.
  • Similarly, amongst the large equities by market capitalisation, GO plc moved 0.7% higher to reach yet another 7-year high of €3.12 also on low volumes of 3,500 shares.
  • Positive movements also in the share price of MIDI plc as it moved 1.3% higher to regain the €0.325 level – minimally below its 2015 high of €0.333 – on shallow volumes of 5,000 shares.
  • The only other posting performing equity was Lombard Bank Malta plc with a minimal increase to €1.821 across 2,828 shares.
  • On the other hand, the share price of Bank of Valletta plc eased 0.2% back to the €2.285 level across twelve deals totalling 27,379 shares.
  • Likewise, the equity of RS2 Software plc retreated minimally lower to €3.419 on low volumes of 2,000 shares. The IT Group yesterday held its Annual General Meeting during which shareholders approved all the items on the agenda including the final net dividend of €0.044 per share and the 2 for 1 share split effective 16 June (thereby including trades up to this Friday 12 June).
  • Meanwhile, HSBC Bank Malta plc held on to the €1.84 level on just 1,798 shares.
  • Also no changes in the share price of Plaza Centres plc at the €0.969 level across six trades totalling 25,000 shares.
  • Malta International Airport plc also maintained their previous closing price of €3.37 across 20,000 shares.
