Daily Market Highlights (11.09.13)

  • The MSE Share Index slipped 0.2% back to 3,386.405 points as BOV, Medserv and 6pm trended lower to offset the increases in the share prices of Island Hotels and MIA. Meanwhile all the other five active equities ended the session unchanged. Download a copy of the Equity Market Summary.
  • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index eased by a further 0.1% to a new 2-month low of 1,019.766 points as Eurozone yields remained above the 2% level as concerns over the conflict in Syria continued to ease.
  • Meanwhile, Medserv plc recently announced the issuance of €13 million 6% Secured and Guaranteed Notes due 2020/23. Interest is payable twice yearly on 31 March and 30 September. The preplacement will take place on 19 September 2013 and the General Public Offer opens on 23 September 2013. Minimum applications are for €2,000 and in multiples of €100 thereafter.
  • The share price of Island Hotels Group climbed a further 6% to a new 28-month high of €0.90 across seven trades totalling 34,300 shares. Activity in IHG shares has intensified over recent months with a strong recovery in the share price. However, the Group is still seeking to raise fresh equity to finance the development of the Oasis project (ex-Hal Ferh site).
  • The only other positive performing equity during this morning’s session was MIA which edged 0.5% higher to regain the €1.88 level on a single trade of 10,000 shares.
  • On the other hand, BOV shed 1.3% to drop back to the 2.35% level on low volumes of 1,259 shares. This month marks the end of the Bank’s financial year with the preliminary full-year results published by the end of October.
  • Medserv shed 2.7% to the €3.60 level on 6,000 shares.
  • 6pm Holdings eased minimally lower to GBP0.60 across 5,000 shares.
  • HSBC held on to the €2.50 level across 9,800 shares.
  • Lombard Bank maintained the €1.90 level on a single deal of 4,400 shares.
  • Similarly, Crimsonwing traded unchanged at the €0.74 across 60,000 shares. The financial half-year ends this month with the interim report generally published by the end of November.
  • Plaza Centres also ended unchanged at the €0.56 level across 30,000 shares.
  • Likewise, no changes in the share price of GO at €1.51 on volumes of 1,423 shares.
