Daily Market Highlights (13.06.13)

  • The active large cap equities ended the session in negative territory forcing the MSE Share Index 0.5% lower to 3,389.392 points. The local equity market index closed lower for the first time in eight sessions. Download a copy of the Equity Market Summary.
  • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged 0.2% higher to 1,019.751 points as Eurozone yields slipped back to the 1.57% level with investors shedding the riskier peripheral assets in line with today’s sell off across international markets. Moreover, investors are awaiting the results of an Italian debt auction which will possibly be concluded at higher yields given the prevailing challenges. 
  • The share price of RS2 Software reached new highs during this morning’s session as demand for the IT equity intensified following yesterday’s revelation during the Annual General Meeting that a large bank based in the UK is interested in purchasing not less than 10% of the Company’s outstanding shares. The equity jumped to a new all-time high of €1.30 before easing back to close at the €1.20 level which still represents a 3.4% increase over the previous closing price. A total of 48,867 shares changed hands today with lowest offers now in the market at the €1.22 level. The final net dividend of €0.025 per share was paid today while the bonus shares will be distributed to shareholders in the coming days.
  • Fresh demand also lifted the share price of FIMBank by 2.5% to the US$1.025 level across two trades totalling 18,600 shares.
  • Similarly, Island Hotels Group moved 3.6% higher to regain the €0.57 level on low volumes of 6,000 shares.
  • BOV shares reversed yesterday’s uplift with an equivalent 0.2% drop during this morning’s session back to the €2.27 level on volumes of 15,193 shares.
  • IHI also shed 3.3% to drop back to the €0.87 level on low volumes of 1,000 shares.
  • An insignificant deal of 615 MIA shares was transacted at the €2.015 level representing a 1.2% drop from the previous close.
  • GO also eased 0.2% lower to €1.537 across two trades totalling 2,500 shares.
  • On the other hand, Middlesea Insurance held on to the €0.811 level across 7,846 shares.
  • In the IT sector, Crimsonwing and 6pm maintained the €0.58 and GBP0.60 level respectively with 2,000 shares traded in each equity.
