Daily Market Highlights (15.10.13)

  • The MSE Share Index shed a further 0.4% during this morning’s trading session to 3,459.421 points as various equities declined whilst only the shares of Crimsonwing moved higher. Download a copy of the Equity Market Summary.
  • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index shed 0.1% to an almost 4-month low of 1,017.227 points in line with the upturn in Eurozone yields to the 1.90% level. The benchmark 10-year German bund yield recovered after it was revealed that progress in the US debt ceiling negotiations was achieved late last night with an agreement expected to be reached today.
  • Today also marked the first trading session for the newly listed 6% Medserv plc 2020/23 notes with €4,900 (nominal) changing hands at the 102.01% level. Further bids are placed at the 102% level with lowest offers at 103.50%.
  • The share price of BOV dropped 0.6% to the €2.46 level on volumes of 15,129 shares. The Bank is expected to publish its preliminary full-year results by the end of this month.
  • Lower volumes were registered in the other negative performing equities with IHI easing 1.2% lower to the €0.83 level across 1,800 shares on lack of developments with respect to the sale of the twelve luxury apartments and new equity injection.
  • Similarly, uncertainty also surrounding GO’s equity in connection with the decision on the upcoming rights issue of Forthnet forced GO’s share price to an intra-day day low of €1.45 before partially recovering to end the session just minimally lower at €1.49 on volumes of 4,403 shares.
  • RS2 Software eased by 0.5% to the €1.98 level across two deals totalling just 5,000 shares.
  • On the other hand, Crimsonwing’s share price gained 1.9% to a new all-time high of €0.80 across 5,000 shares. The IT Company is scheduled to hold its Annual General Meeting tomorrow.
  • Meanwhile, the equity of MIA continued to trade at the €2.00 level on volumes of 16,393 shares.
  • Likewise, no change was registered in the share price of MaltaPost as a single trade of 1,533 shares was executed at the €1.98 level.
