Daily Market Highlights (17.06.15)

  • The MSE Share Index ended this morning’s session practically unchanged at 4,064.931 points as the gains in three equities were offset by declines in Bank of Valletta plc and MIDI plc. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary.
  • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index rebounded by 0.2% to 1,119.504 points in line with the retreat in the benchmark yields of Spain and Italy in contrast to yesterday’s sharp rally. Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year German Bund yield continued to trade around the 0.8% level despite the looming possibility of a Greek exit from the eurozone as the Mediterranean country and its international creditors fail to find common ground to secure a new debt deal.
  • The share price of GO plc advanced by a further 0.6% to a fresh 8-year high of €3.20 across 9,130 shares. Similarly, RS2 Software plc closed at the €1.735 level for the first time in its 7-year trading history representing a 0.2% increase over the previous closing price across eight trades totalling 46,000 shares. The equity of RS2 briefly touched a new record of €1.739.
  • Likewise, Medserv plc reached a fresh all-time high of €2.275 across three deals totalling 5,465 shares. Medserv is expected to distribute its final net dividend of €0.056 per share to all shareholders by not later than 23 June.
  • On the other hand, the share price of Bank of Valletta plc slipped 0.1% lower back to the €2.29 level across eleven trades totalling 31,878 shares.
  • Similarly, MIDI plc retreated by 2.7% back to the €0.331 level across a single trade of 10,000 shares.
  • Meanwhile, HSBC Bank Malta plc maintained the €1.82 level after recovering from an intra-day low of €1.808 on volumes of 36,722 shares. Also in the financial sector, FIMBank plc held on to the USD0.465 level on volumes of 36,000 shares.
  • Likewise, International Hotel Investments plc held on to the €0.92 level after again failing to hold on to an intra-day high of €0.928 on volumes of 10,000 shares.
  • The only other active equity was Malta International Airport plc with 1,800 shares trading unchanged at the €3.369 level.
