Daily Market Highlights (19.10.11)

  • Local equity market in negative territory for the second consecutive day as the MSE Share Index sheds a further 0.6% to 3,098.303 points as BOV and IHI trade lower.  Meanwhile HSBC and MIA traded unchanged. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary.
  • On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index eased 0.1% lower to 985.070 points in line with the marginal recovery in Eurozone yields.
  • This afternoon MIA announced that it is revising upwards its 2011 passenger growth forecast from 3.2% to at least 4.5% following the arrival of the 3 millionth passenger for 2011. This is the second time this year that the airport operator revised its passenger growth forecast upwards as it initially had estimated to maintain the same level of passenger numbers reported in 2010. MIA’s share price held on to its recent strong gains as the equity traded again at its 3-month high of €1.70 on a small trade of 500 shares. Further offers unsatisfied at the last traded price.
  • HSBC also unchanged today at the €2.66 level across activity totalling 5,520 shares. Best bids now placed at €2.64 whilst lowest offers in the market at the €2.69 level.
  • BOV eased minimally lower to close at €2.455 level on volumes of over 28,800 shares. The Bank is scheduled to publish its full-year results on Friday 28 October.
  • IHI’s share price dropped to the €0.79 level across one deal amounting to 1,861 shares. Bids already placed higher at €0.791 with lowest offers at €0.815.
  • Yesterday afternoon Crimsonwing held its Annual General Meeting during which all the resolutions on the agenda were approved by the shareholders. Equity remained inactive with offers outstanding at the last closing price of €0.338 and highest bids at the €0.30 level.
