Daily Market Highlights (22.10.14)

The MSE Share Index retreated for the first time since 14 September with a marginal dip to 3,357.58 points largely due to the decline in BOV’s share price. Medserv shares also in negative territory whilst HSBC and MIA closed the session unchanged. Download a copy of the Equity Market Summary.

On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged marginally higher to 1,093.637 points despite the uplift in Eurozone yields which regained the 0.87% level.

The share price of BOV eased 0.1% lower to €2.249 across seven deals totalling 35,237 shares.

Meanwhile, HSBC held on to the €2.00 level as a further 33,241 shares changed hands today.

Next Sunday 26 October, the European Central Bank is scheduled to publish its Asset Quality Review (AQR) which it conducted over a large number of systemically important European banks including BOV and HSBC. These will be followed by the publication of the BOV Group’s September 2014 full-year results on Friday 31 October.

There was minimal activity elsewhere in the local equity market with Medserv plc sliding 2.3% back to the €1.30 level across 6,500 shares and Malta International Airport plc maintaining the €2.35 level across 9,350 shares.
