Daily Market Highlights (28.02.2018)

  • Following the gains registered in the previous three trading sessions, the MSE Equity Price Index retreated by a minimal 0.12% to 4,497.431 points today, reflecting the 0.5% drop in the share price of Bank of Valletta plc which moved back to the €1.82 level across 24,234 shares.   • The RF MGS Index virtually remained unchanged at 1,109.650 points notwithstanding an overall decline in euro zone yields today. On the economic front, French and Italian inflationary data disappointed whilst unemployment in Germany stayed at its record low of 5.4%.
  • Over half of today’s trading activity took place in the equity of HSBC Bank Malta plc which maintained the €1.95 level after falling to hold on to a six-month high of €1.99 across a total of 69,264 shares. Shareholders as at close of trading on Friday 9 March 2018 will be entitled to receive a total net dividend of €0.0806 per share.
  • Also among the large companies by market capitalisation, Malta International Airport plc retained the €4.94 level across 8,595 shares. The equity of MIA is trading with the entitlement to a net dividend of €0.07 per share.
  • Likewise, RS2 Software plc closed unchanged at the €1.29 level after recovering from its 28-month low of €1.28. A total of 13,020 shares traded.
  • Three deals totalling 9,449 shares left the equity of PG plc at the €1.35 level.
