BOV’s seven-day positive run halted

Following seven consecutive sessions of increases, the share price of Bank of Valletta plc slipped 0.4% lower to the €2.49 level across fourteen deals totalling 18,153 shares. Nonetheless, the banking equity still ended the week with a gain of 2.1%.

Meanwhile, all other active equities during this morning’s session ended unchanged. In the financial sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc recovered from an intra-day low of €2.531 to end the day and the week unchanged at the €2.55 level on volumes of 9,821 shares. HSBC Malta will be publishing 2013 financial statements on Monday 24 February.

Similarly, RS2 Software plc and Medserv plc held on to the €2.30 and €1.30 levels respectively for both equities to end the week also unchanged.

Low volumes were also transacted in Simonds Farsons Cisk plc with the equity holding on to the €2.90 level on a single deal of 5,460 shares. The equity registered a 0.4% weekly increase.

On the other hand, MIDI plc ended this week in negative territory with a 1.7% decline. This morning a further 10,000 shares changed hands today at the €0.295 level.

On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged 0.1% higher to 1,027.126 points as Eurozone yields slumped to a new three-month low of 1.653% on the back of growth concerns across the major global economies including the US, the Eurozone and China.
