Malta International Airport plc - July Traffic Results

On 3 August, Malta International Airport plc published the traffic statistics for the month of July during which passenger movements grew by 5.9% on the back of a 3.1% increase in seat capacity and an improved seat load factor of 88% – a record for the month of July.

The announcement also highlighted that there was a 20.8% growth in passengers from Spain reflecting the stepped up efforts to recoup traffic from this country. Similarly, the German market registered a 10.6% increase in passenger numbers in July following the introduction of new routes to Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Karlsruhe.

In aggregate, during the first seven months of the year, passenger movements amount to more than 2.76 million representing a 9% increase over the previous year’s comparable period.

The announcement also noted that Skytrax, the leading air transport industry audit organisation, awarded four stars to Malta International Airport as the airport fared well in most of the audited areas.
