Malta International Airport plc - November Traffic Results

On 7 December 2017, Malta International Airport plc published the November 2017 traffic results revealing a 15.8% increase in passenger movements over November 2016 to 405,724 movements – a record for the month of November. The growth registered last month was due to the 19.2% increase in seat capacity. Meanwhile the seat load factor dropped to 79% compared to 82.4% in November 2016.

The top five markets accounted for more than half of the total passenger movements for November with the UK registering more than 100,000 passenger movements during the month under review. Italy, Germany and France also registered increases whilst passenger movements from Belgium dipped marginally lower compared to the corresponding figures for November 2016. The announcement also noted significant growth from Poland, Turkey, Austria and the Netherlands on the back of additional capacity deployed in these markets.

January – November 2017

During the eleven months ended 30 November 2017, more than 5.6 million passenger movements were registered representing an 18.4% increase over the previous corresponding period. In July, the airport operator updated its 2017 passenger growth forecast to 5.8 million passenger movements (representing a growth of between 14% and 16%).
