Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

On 21 May 2026, Cablenet Communication Systems plc published an updated Financial Analysis Summary. The following are the main highlights of the expected financial performance and financial position of Cablenet in 2026:

  • Revenue is anticipated to grow by 8.0% to a record of €75.2 million driven primarily by growth in post-paid mobile subscribers, expansion in the overall customer base, and a higher volume of device sales.
  • EBITDA is expected to rebound by 12.4% to €21.5 million as the higher RAN sharing costs and a substantial increase in device sales volume will be partially offset by lower administrative costs. As a result, the EBITDA margin is forecasted to improve to 28.5% from 27.4% in 2025.
  • Net finance costs are expected to increase to €5.0 million (2025: €4.4 million) following the €21 million loan provided by the majority shareholder GO plc in 2025 to refinance existing shareholder loans and settle intra-group obligations.  Nonetheless, the interest cover is anticipated to remain practically unchanged at 4.3 times.
  • Total debt is projected to decrease by 7.9% to €95.6 million, which includes borrowings of €64.0 million, lease liabilities of €7.5 million, and football rights liabilities of €25.7 million.
  • After accounting for an expected cash balance of €3.7 million, net debt is anticipated to decrease to €92 million compared to €110 million in 2025. In context of the recovery in EBITDA and the decrease in indebtedness, the net debt to EBITDA multiple is forecasted to improve to 2.73 times compared to 3.25 times in 2025.
