Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

On 12 December 2025, Malta International Airport plc announced that passenger movements in November 2025 amounted to 734,791 which is 16.5% higher than the movements of 630,637 recorded in November 2024. This was the first time that passenger movements surpassed the 700,000 level in the month of November.

The seat load factor for November 2025 stood at 82.1%, a 3.5 percentage point drop compared to November 2024, reflecting the substantial increase in seat capacity of 21.5%. Meanwhile, aircraft movements increased by 18.5% year-over-year to 4,973 movements.

MIA noted that while the UK and Italy remained the most popular destinations, Poland advanced as the third most popular market following increased flight frequencies on most Polish routes, including Warsaw, Krakow and Gdansk. Germany and Spain were the other markets within the top five.

Passenger movements during the eleven-month period ended November 2025 amounted to 9.35 million, reflecting an increase of 11.8% over the corresponding period last year. As a result, MIA already surpassed the 2024 annual passenger movements of 8.96 million.
