Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

On 22 July 2026, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc published an updated Financial Analysis Summary including forecasts for the financial year ending 31 January 2027. The following are the main highlights of the expected consolidated financial performance and position of Farsons:

  • Revenue is expected to reach €113.5 million, implying growth of 6.5% over the previous year and a new record for the beverage business. This reflects the overall positive business momentum and market dynamics.
  • Gross profit is forecasted to improve by 9.1% to €49.7 million, as cost of sales is anticipated to rise at a slower pace than revenue. In fact, the gross profit margin is projected to widen to 43.8% from 42.7% in the previous year.
  • EBITDA is anticipated to increase by 4.0% to €25.3 million. When excluding the positive impact of the impairment reversal of €1.1 million in the previous year, the EBITDA growth stands at 9.1%.
  • Net finance costs are expected to drop to just €0.6 million. As a result, the interest cover is forecasted to strengthen to 42 times compared to 29 times in the previous year.
  • Profit before tax is forecasted to climb by 3.4% to €16.5 million. However, in view of the anticipated higher tax charge of €4.3 million, the net profit is projected to drop by 18.9% to €12.2 million. The company explained that at parent company level, no further investment tax credits are available off-balance sheet. Nonetheless, the tax charge for the year is expected to be of a deferred nature and thus will not impact cash flows.
  • Total debt is projected to remain broadly unchanged at €22.0 million, consisting of the €20 million bonds maturing in September 2027 and €2 million in lease liabilities. Due to further improvement in the equity position, the gearing ratio is anticipated to strengthen to 12% compared to 13% in the previous year.
  • When considering the forecasted cash balance of €2.6 million at the end of the financial year, the net debt is expected at €19.3 million and the Group’s net debt to EBITDA multiple will remain at 0.8 times.
