Malta International Airport plc - November Traffic Results

On 11 December Malta International Airport plc published the November 2009 traffic results. The statistics show a 1.4% rise in passenger departures during the month of November to 94,858 passengers (November 2008: 93,549). The airport operator stated that passenger traffic for Italy, Spain and France increased by 5.4%, 80.6% and 6.7% respectively whilst decreases were registered from the UK (-0.5%) and Germany (-5.5%). During the first eleven months of 2009, passenger departures declined by 6.8% when compared to the same period in 2008, representing a decrease of 101,086 passengers.

In July 2009, MIA’s CEO Mr Julian Jaeger had revised downwards the traffic projection for 2009 from a decline of 5.5% to 6.8%. The actual passenger movements during the first eleven months of 2009 is therefore as forecast earlier on this year.
