During the first eight months of the year, MIA’s passenger movements have increased by 8.5% when compared to the same period last year – totalling 2.4 million passenger movements. This increase was mainly due to the increased seat capacity during the first four months of the year when compared to last year.

On 21 July MIA upgraded its passenger forecast for 2011. The airport operator is now expecting an increase of 3.2% during 2011 to a new record high of 3.4 million passenger movements.
