Malta International Airport plc - March Traffic Results

On 05 April 2019, Malta International Airport plc published the March 2019 traffic results showing an increase of 1.3% in passenger movements. The announcement noted that the growth during the month of March was limited by the fact that Easter last year occurred in March whilst in 2019 it will be occurring in April.

2018/19 Winter Season

During the winter season, covering November 2018 to March 2019, MIA registered a growth of 5.9% to 2.071 million passenger movements over the previous comparable period notwithstanding a 1.2 percentage point decline in the seat load factor to 76%. The growth reflects an enhanced winter flight schedule as Malta becomes an increasingly popular destination in the off-peak months.

2019 Summer Season

Looking ahead, MIA noted that its 2019 summer scheduled features several new destinations and the start of its Cruise and Fly programme which should lead to even busier days.
