On 16 January 2025, Malta International Airport plc published the December 2024 traffic results and provided key performance targets for 2025.
December 2024 Traffic Results
In December, MIA welcomed a record monthly record of 591,539 passengers, which is 11.8% higher than the movements handled in the same month in 2023. Consequently, all monthly passenger movements throughout 2024 exceeded the corresponding 2023 levels.
Full-Year 2024 Traffic Results
Passenger movements at MIA in 2024 reached a record of 8.96 million, which is 14.8% higher than the previous record of 7.80 million passenger movements registered 2023.
The seat load factor also reached an annual all-time high of 86%.
In terms of popular destinations, Italy, the UK, Germany, France, and Poland remained the top five markets, with France being the only market registering a drop when compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Poland registered the highest growth rate of 53%, reflecting better flight frequencies on several routes.
Key Performance Targets for 2025
The airport operator also announced its key targets for this year. For 2025, MIA expects:
- Passenger movements of 9.3 million compared to the 2024 figure of 8.96 million.
- Revenue of €147 million compared to the latest 2024 forecast of €141 million.
- EBITDA of €91 million compared to the latest 2024 forecast of €85 million.
- Net profit of €48 million compared to the latest 2024 forecast of €46 million.
- Capital investments of €70 million.
