Malta International Airport plc - January Traffic Results

On 12 February 2025, Malta International Airport plc published the January 2025 traffic results. Passenger movements reached a new record for January and amounted to 507,574 passenger movements, which is 9.0% higher than the previous record registered in January 2024.

Meanwhile, the seat load factor for January 2025 declined marginally to 73.8% compared to 74.0% in January 2024. However, the airport operator noted that seat capacity increased by 9.3% when compared to the same month last year.

MIA highlighted that Italy remained its largest market in January 2025 with 20.8% market share, followed by the UK (13.9%), Poland (13.2%), Germany (7%) and Spain (6%). MIA explained that Poland’s strong performance throughout the winter months was driven by increased capacity on Polish routes operated by both Ryanair and Wizz Air, as well as the extension of the Ryanair route to Katowice, launched in summer 2024, into the winter season.
