Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

The MSE Equity Price Index advanced by 0.72% to a fresh six-year high of 4,346.3 points, as gains in nine equities outweighed declines in five, while MaltaPost and PG closed unchanged. Total trading value across local equities amounted to €0.36 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Bank of Valletta plc was by far the most actively traded equity as it increased by a further 0.4% to €2.34 across 84,123 shares, accounting for more than half of today’s value traded across local equities. As a result, BOV’s market capitalisation reached a new record of €1.5 billion.

FIMBank plc was the day’s strongest performer, climbing 10.0% to USD0.286 across 13,200 shares, while International Hotel Investments plc rebounded by 7.7% to €0.63 across 2,500 shares.

Malta Properties Company plc rose 4.2% to €0.448 across 10,580 shares and BMIT Technologies plc added 3.9% to €0.268 across 26,146 shares.

RS2 plc advanced 2.3% to €0.45, APS Bank plc gained 0.8% to €0.595.

Santumas Shareholdings plc edged 0.8% higher to €1.24 on a single deal of 10,000 shares.

Malita Investments plc increased by 0.5% to €0.382 as 3,000 shares changed hands.

In contrast, Harvest Technology plc dropped by 16.7% to €0.90 on a single trade of 8,750 shares.

HSBC Bank Malta plc fell 1.3% to €1.48 across 15,257 shares.

GO plc eased 0.8% to €2.56 across 28,093 shares. GO shareholders as at the close of trading on Monday 14 September 2026 will be entitled to a net interim dividend of €0.07 per share, payable on Tuesday 6 October 2026.

Malta International Airport plc slipped 0.8% to €6.60 across 2,513 shares in eight deals, and Computime Holdings plc declined 4.1% to €0.47 on a single trade of 2,500 shares.

MaltaPost plc (€0.49) and PG plc (€1.64) traded flat across 4,000 shares and 6,097 shares respectively.

The RF MGS Index fell by 0.20% to 884.8 points as eurozone sovereign bond yields extended their recent gains, with the increase concentrated in the two- to five-year maturities that are most sensitive to ECB policy rates. The German two-year yield rose to the 3% level for the first time in more than two years. Furthermore, the German 10-year climbed to a 15-year high of 3.38%. In contrast, the move did not extend to US Treasuries, where the ten-year yield eased from the three-year high of 4.81% to 4.78%, the first decline in six sessions.
