Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

The MSE Equity Price Index dropped to a one-month low as it shed a further 1.14% to 4,067.0 points. The declines in IHI, Malita, Farsons and Trident outweighed the gains in BOV and FIMBank while another six equities closed unchanged. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

AX Real Estate plc traded flat at the €0.49 level on five deals totalling 104,350 shares, representing a daily activity of over €50,000 for the first time since early 2024. Today, AX Real Estate announced that last week it bought 23,257 of its own shares at a price of €0.492 per share.

Malta International Airport plc held the €6.10 level across four trades totalling 6,342 shares.

BMIT Technologies plc closed unchanged at the €0.25 level on volumes of 82,430 shares.

APS Bank plc (€0.59), Computime Holdings plc (€0.46), and Mapfre Middlesea plc (€1.42) also closed unchanged on low volumes.

International Hotel Investments plc plunged by 14.8%) to €0.545 across for deals totalling 23,300 shares.

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc fell by 1.8% to the €5.50 level on nine trades totalling 8,408 shares.

Malita Investments plc declined by 3.4% to the €0.40 level on two deals of 14,166 shares. Malita will hold its Annual General Meeting tomorrow.

A single trade of 500 shares pulled the share price of Trident Estates plc 4.4% lower to €1.09.

In contrast, Bank of Valletta plc climbed 0.5% to the €2.10 level across 13 trades amounting to 16,681 shares.

FIMBank plc rebounded by 6.3% to USD0.17 on a single trade of 10,500 shares.

The RF MGS Index remained virtually unchanged at 889.5 points as the increase in short-term and medium-term MGS bid prices was offset by the decrease in the longer-term bid prices. This reflects a steepening yield curve brought by lower-than-expected inflation readings in the US that reduces pressure on central banks to increase rates. Nonetheless, government debt levels and geopolitical tensions still put upward pressure on longer-term yields.
