Minimal movements in quiet trading session
Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.
The MSE Equity Price Index drifted another 0.13% lower to a two-week low of 4,346.5 points as the declines in APS, MIA, and MPC outweighed the gain in Quinco. Meanwhile, six other equities closed unchanged. Total trading value was low at around €0.10 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.
Bank of Valletta plc was the most actively traded equity, accounting for 44% of the total value traded across local equities, as it closed unchanged at €2.36 across four deals totalling 17,877 shares.
BMIT Technologies plc (€0.26) and PG plc (€1.64) also closed unchanged on muted activity.
RS2 plc closed unchanged at €0.46 across two deals of 6,000 shares, although the majority of them exchanged hands at €0.45 (-2.2%).
Harvest Technology plc stayed at €0.905 on a single trade of 500 shares.
International Hotel Investments plc held at the €0.60 level on a single trade of 97 shares.
Malta Properties Company plc fell by 2.4% to €0.41 on two deals of 30,727 shares.
Malta International Airport plc eased by 0.8% to €6.60 across three deals totalling 1,560 shares.
APS Bank plc declined by 0.9% to €0.58 across six deals totalling 12,117 shares, after failing to hold to an intraday high of €0.60 (+2.6%).
Today’s only positive performer was Quinco Holdings plc as it advanced by 2.5% to €0.82 on a single trade of 17,662 shares.
Today, AX Real Estate plc announced that last week it purchased 30,000 of its own shares at €0.535 per share.
The RF MGS Index remained virtually unchanged at 878.6 points as the marginally lower CBM bid prices for short-dated MGS was offset by higher bid prices for long-term MGS. The slight flattening of the yield curve suggests that the market is accounting for a restrictive monetary policy the short-term, which will eventually tame inflation in the long-term.
