Strong trading activity across Farsons shares
Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.
The MSE Equity Price Index shed 0.39% to a one week low of 4,201.3 points reflecting the declines in seven equities which offset the gains in FIMBank, Medserv and MIA. Meanwhile, four other equities closed unchanged as total trading value rebounded sharply to €0.53 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.
Nearly half of today’s value traded was across the shares of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc which closed unchanged at the €6.00 level with 40,350 shares changing hands having a market value of €0.24 million, making it the highest daily value traded in Farsons shares in two years.
Notable activity also took place across the shares of PG plc which closed unchanged at €1.59 across volume totalling 57,200 shares and
Likewise, Bank of Valletta plc closed unchanged at the €2.19 level across 49,855 shares.
M&Z plc held the €0.565 level on a single trade of 2,000 shares. M&Z is expected to publish its interim results tomorrow.
BMIT Technologies plc fell by 3% to the €0.26 level on one deal of 67,512 shares.
Also in the technology sector, Computime Holdings plc dropped by 4.1% to the €0.47 level across three deals totalling 23,300 shares.
A single trade of 50,000 shares pulled the share price of MIDI plc 1.7% lower to the €0.23 level.
APS Bank plc (-3.4% to €0.56) and HSBC Bank Malta plc (-1.4% to €1.46), Mapfre Malta plc (-2.8% to €1.37) and Malita Investments plc (-1.1% to €0.376) were today’s other negative performers across muted activity.
In contrast, Malta International Airport plc advanced by 0.8% to €6.60 across seven deals totalling 3,607 shares.
FIMBank plc also climbed 0.8% to USD0.25 as 46,639 shares changed hands.
MedservRegis plc increased by 1.5% to €0.66 on a single trade of 5,600 shares.
Today, VBL plc published its interim financial statements covering the six-month period ended 30 June 2026. Revenues increased by 16.8% to €2.49 million driven by improvements in rental income reflecting growth in number of units operated and the positive impact from the tourism sector. Operating profit surged by 25% to €0.59 million compared to €0.47 million in the corresponding period last year. VBL recorded a net profit for the period of €0.28 million compared to €0.12 million in the first half of 2025. When compared to the end of 2025, total equity also remained relatively unchanged at €69.4 million, which translates into a net asset value per share of €0.2784.
The RF MGS Index remained virtually unchanged at 891.6 points as yields stabilised following last week’s volatility. The US Treasury stated that it would be using its General Account Balance to increase the buyback of long-term securities in an effort to keep the yields stable.
