Following last week's article detailing the performance of the S&P 500 index in 2025, it is worth devoting time to review the developments across the European equity markers in my last article of the year.

The MSE Equity Price Index eased by 0.17% to 4,369.1 points as the declines in seven equities outweighed the gains in APS, Harvest, Lombard and Farsons. Six other equities closed unchanged, while total trading value almost doubled to €0.54 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Plaza Centres plc also traded flat at €0.83 across two deals totalling 11,215 shares. Today, Plaza announced that on 22 September it entered into a promise of sale agreement to acquire the commercial premises at 16 Tower Road, Sliema, adjacent to the Plaza Commercial Centre, which will allow the company to expand its premises and overall offering. The final deed of sale is expected to be concluded by 2 April 2027.

LifeStar Holding plc closed unchanged at €0.45 across two deals of 13,070 shares, while Quinco Holdings plc also closed unchanged at €0.82 on a single trade of 3,031 shares.

The RF MGS Index fell by 0.52% to 875.5 points reflecting the rise in eurozone sovereign bond yields since yesterday, with the German 10-year climbing to 3.57% from 3.45% on Tuesday. Bond yields across most major currencies continued to rise due to multiple factors, including the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine pushing up oil prices, the surge of AI-related corporate bonds, and increasing government deficits. However, yesterday’s rise in yields was driven mainly by US economic strength, with both the manufacturing and services sectors readings at the highest levels in four years. As a result, the US yields increased across the yield curve with the 5-year surpassing the 5% level, 10-year rose by 14 basis points to 5.12%, and the 30-year exceeding 5.4%, all being new multi-year highs.
