Daily Market Highlights (07.12.09)

  • MSE Share Index edges marginally higher to 3,343.034 points as declines in Middlesea, BOV and FIMBank are offset by gains in HSBC, Lombard and GO. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary .
  • BOV closes minimally lower at €3.697 after touching an intra-day low of €3.64. Activity in BOV shares remains low with only 7,831 shares changing hands during this morning’s session. Further offers available at this level. Last week BOV published the agenda for the forthcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for 16 December. Amongst the resolutions, shareholders will be asked to approve the final gross dividend of €0.215 per share and a 1 for 4 bonus issue.
  • Meanwhile, HSBC recovers last Friday’s losses as the equity gains 0.6% to close at €3.24. Low activity also evident in HSBC with just 4,400 shares exchanged across 5 transactions. Further offers in the market at the closing level with highest bids pitched at €3.21.
  • Lombard Bank’s share price edges 0.7% higher to €2.799 on increased volumes amounting to 13,400 shares. Few offers in the market at the €2.80 level.
  • Middlesea’s share price sheds 5.4% to end today’s session at the rights issue price of €0.60. Only 2,738 shares trade today with further offers in the market at €0.60. Rights Issue subscription period closes next Monday 14 December. Further details available here.
  • FIMBank also declines by 0.9% to close at its 2009 low of US$1.10 on volumes of 14,054 shares.
  • GO continues to register new 52-week highs. Share price edges a further 0.5% higher to €1.999 on volumes of 5,800 shares after opening today’s session at €1.97. Further offers remain outstanding at €1.999. Last week GO announced that it secured exclusive local broadcasting rights for England’s Premier League for the three football sessions 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13.
  • Santumas’s equity climbs 4% to €2.601 on a single transaction of 550 shares. A further 4,450 bids remain in the market at the closing price with lowest offers unchanged at €4.659.
  • The Mizzi Organisation Finance plc €30 million bond issue is shortly expected to commence trading. Further details on allotment policy available here. Meanwhile the outstanding balance of €3.7 million 6.7% Mizzi Organisation Finance plc 2009 – 2012 bonds have resumed trading today.
