Daily Market Highlights (10.11.10)

  • BOV leads MSE Share Index into positive territory for the second time this week. Index up 0.6% to 3,463.968 points as the increases in BOV and FIMBank offset the declines in HSBC. Meanwhile GO, Farsons and IHI close unchanged. Following today’s upturn the Index is now marginally higher than its value at the beginning of the year.   • Subscriptions for the two new Malta Government Stock issues up to €100,000 (nominal) close this afternoon. Applications for amounts exceeding €100,000 in the form of sealed bids must be submitted by next Friday at noon. Further details available here.
  • Last week MIDI plc announced that it has been granted approval by the Listing Authority of the MFSA to issue 44,444,444 shares at a price of €0.45 per share with an over-allotment option of up to a further 22,222,222 shares. Further details available here.
  • BOV continues to recover as further demand emerges. The Bank’s share price climbed another 3.1% to regain the €3.63 level across twenty trades amounting to 24,686 shares. Further shares on offer at the closing price whilst best bids now pitched at the €3.601 level. Although BOV shares are no longer trading with the entitlement to the final gross dividend, investors acquiring BOV shares until 7 January 2011 will still be entitled to the 1 for 5 bonus issue.   • HSBC back into negative territory as the share price falls 0.9% to the €2.873 level. 14,200 shares change hands today with bids already placed higher at €2.881 whilst lowest offers pitched at the €2.90 level.
  • FIMBank’s equity advances by 2.2% to recapture the US$0.95 level as it trades for the first time since 25 October. Ten trades totalling 59,400 shares executed today with further offers unsatisfied at the closing price whilst best bids placed at the US$0.90 level. The recently issued bonds, denominated in euro and US Dollars, of FIMBank were yesterday admitted to the Official List with the US Dollar tranche immediately rising to a premium as the first trades in this bond were registered this morning.
  • IHI and GO maintain their respective price levels. 18,000 IHI shares traded at the €0.77 level while the equity of the telecoms operator continues to trade at the €1.88 level.
  • No movement also in Simonds Farsons Cisk as 4,111 shares transacted at the €1.75 level.
