MSE Equity Price Index trends minimally lower

 

The MSE Equity Price Index eased by 0.02% to 3,726.146 points as the declines in the share prices of five companies slightly offset the gains in Mapfre Middlesea and GO. Meanwhile, BMIT Technologies plc stayed at the €0.47 level on light volumes. Overall trading activity in equities contracted to €0.08 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

APS Bank plc drifted 0.8% lower back to the €0.66 level across 79,000 shares.

Malta International Airport plc also retracted by 0.8% to the €5.95 level on a total of 1,525 shares.

Among the large companies by market value, HSBC Bank Malta plc slid by 0.7% to the €0.755 level albeit on just 2,222 shares.

A single deal of 50,000 shares forced the share price of VBL plc to drop by 6.7% to the €0.252 level.

On the Alternative Companies List, Loqus Holdings plc lost 5.3% to the €0.18 level on trivial volumes.

Low trading activity took place in the equity of GO plc which rebounded by 3.4% to the €3.06 level.

Meanwhile, Mapfre Middlesea plc added 0.6% to recapture the €1.80 level across 3,500 shares.

The RF MGS Index eased by 0.12% to 940.274 points despite the downward movement in eurozone sovereign bond yields. Ahead of the publication of important inflation data this week, investor sentiment continued to be dominated by the concerns over the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases around the world as well as the threat of an imminent cessation of Russian gas supplies to Europe.
