Daily Market Highlights (15.12.09)

  • MSE Share Index continues to register fresh highs on further gains in several equities. Various equities trade but activity remains low. Index advances by a further 0.26% to a new 13-month high of 3,437.639 points. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary.
  • BOV closes today’s session unchanged at €3.80 with activity of over 12,500 shares across 17 trades. Further offers remain unsatisfied at the closing price with bids pitched at €3.78. BOV will be convening its 36th Annual General Meeting tomorrow. Amongst the resolutions, shareholders will be asked to approve the final gross dividend of €0.215 per share and a 1 for 4 bonus issue. The dividend will then be distributed to all shareholders on Thursday 17 December.
  • Likewise HSBC also unchanged today on low volumes of 3,500 shares. Equity opens higher at €3.265 before edging back down to close at €3.25. Further bids placed in the market at €3.25 with lowest offers at €3.28.
  • FIMBank ranks as today’s best performer as the share jumps 5.5% to US$1.16 on a single trade of only 900 shares. Despite today’s share price hike, the equity still stands 22.7% below its 2009 high of US$1.50.
  • GO hits a new 2009 high for the third consecutive session as the share price edges 0.5% higher to €2.06. A total of 7,570 shares exchanged today across 6 trades with further offers remaining unsatisfied at the closing level. Last week GO announced that it secured exclusive rights to broadcast the Italian Serie A matches for the next two football seasons. This followed another announcement that it secured exclusive local broadcasting rights for England’s Premier League for the three football seasons 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13. Forthnet also confirmed last week that it secured England’s Premier League for the three football seasons 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13.
  • MaltaPost gains 1.4% to €0.66 on a single trade totaling 1,457 shares. Further bids at this level with lowest offers now at €0.685. The postal operator is scheduled to announce its September 2009 full-year results on 21 January.
  • MIA regains the €2.40 level (+0.46%) as 4,500 shares change hands today. Last week MIA announced that during the month of November passenger departures increased by 1.4%.
  • Lombard Bank’s maintains its 2009 high of €2.87 as a further 2,000 shares are exchanged. Best bids already placed higher at €2.88 with further shares on offer at €2.89.
  • Crimsonwing’s equity holds on to yesterday’s 5.4% gain as a further 1,903 shares trade at €0.39. Equity is now 56% higher than its all-time low of €0.25 recorded in July 2009.
  • Datatrak’s equity returns to activity trades for the first time since 24 November 2009. 2,940 shares trade at €0.072, representing a 2.9% rise from its recent all-time low.
