Daily Market Highlights (20.10.10)

  • Following two consecutive sessions of declines, the local equity market turns positive as three of the four large caps trade higher. MSE Share Index advances by 0.3% this morning as HSBC, BOV and GO marginally recover from recent declines. On the other hand Crimsonwing slumped 16.7% whilst IHI and Middlesea close unchanged.   • HSBC opens today’s session at a new 12-month low of €2.75 before recovering to the €2.795 level – 0.9% higher than the previous close. 16,000 shares exchanged today with further offers unsatisfied at the closing price whilst best bids now pitched at the €2.77 level.
  • On the other hand, BOV kicked off today’s session 0.9% higher at the €3.24 level to ease back to a close of €3.22, 0.3% higher than yesterday’s close. Eleven trades amounting to just over 14,000 shares executed today with further bids unsatisfied at the closing price whilst lowest offers now placed at the €3.23 level. Yesterday the Bank announced that it will be publishing its full-year results on Friday 29 October.
  • GO also edges 0.5% higher to €1.86 on volumes of 7,430 shares.
  • IHI opens lower at €0.785 but subsequently recovered to close at the €0.80 level – unchanged from the previous close. Further offers in the market at the closing price whilst best bids still placed at the €0.72 level.
  • Middlesea also unchanged at the €1.00 level across two trades amounting to 6,804 shares. Further bids outstanding at the last traded price whilst lowest offers now pitched at the €1.05 level.
  • A single trade of 6,800 Crimsonwing shares transacted at the €0.35 level representing a 16.7% drop from the previous close. The IT Company yesterday held its Annual General Meeting during which shareholders approved all of the items on the agenda.
