Daily Market Highlights (22.09.10)

  • Negative run in local equity market extended to the sixth session. MSE Share Index declines by another 0.5% to 3,353.483 points as the losses in the share prices of HSBC, GO, Middlesea and Farsons offset the increases in BOV & MIA.   • BOV closes 0.5% higher at the €3.20 level after reaching an intra-day high of €3.23. 11,877 shares change hands today with further bids remaining unsatisfied at the closing price whilst lowest offers now pitched at the €3.23 level.
  • Meanwhile after remaining inactive for two consecutive sessions, HSBC sheds 1.4% to close at €2.801 on volumes of 6,450 shares. Bids already placed marginally higher at €2.803 whilst lowest offers placed at the €2.87 level.
  • GO also ends today’s session in negative territory. Share price slips from an intra-day high of €1.86 back to the €1.84 level, 0.5% lower than the previous closing price. Just over 7,000 shares exchanged today with further bids outstanding at the last closing price whilst lowest offers now placed at the €1.85 level.
  • IHI recovers from an intra-day low of €0.81 to close unchanged at the €0.83 level. Almost 32,500 shares trade today with further offers outstanding at the closing price whilst best bids now placed at the €0.802 level. The bonus issue buy back offer by the Company is open until next Wednesday 29 September.
  • Middlesea Insurance drops to a new 3-month low. Equity slumps 7% this morning to €0.93 on volumes of 4,000 shares. Best bids now placed at €0.90 whilst lowest offers still in the market at the €1.00 level. Following today’s downturn, share price is now trading 20.5% below the recent 2010 high of €1.17.
  • MIA returns to positive territory as the share price rises 1.2% to regain the €1.559 level on volumes of 6,143 shares. Best bids still in the market at €1.521 whilst further offers outstanding at the last closing price.
  • Simonds Farsons Cisk down 0.6% to €1.79 on a thin trade of 200 shares. Other offers in the market at the last closing price whilst best bids still pitched at the €1.635 level.
  • Single trades transacted in MaltaPost and Crimsonwing. 104 MaltaPost shares unchanged at the €0.85 level. The IT Company also unchanged at the €0.42 level across 19,000 shares.
