Daily Market Highlights (24.11.09)

  • MSE Share Index rises a further 0.5% to reach yet another new 2009 high of 3,335.705 points. HSBC, IHI and GO trade higher offsetting BOV’s 1.1% drop. GlobalCapital and IHG also close in positive territory whilst Middlesea slips 13.3% to a fresh all-time low. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary.
  • Yesterday, Mizzi Organisation Finance plc announced that its €25 million 6.2% bond issue closed shortly after the opening of subscriptions. Due to the heavy oversubscription, the Issuer exercised its right to increase the total amount of the bond issue to €30 million. The allotment policy to be adopted is expected to be announced next Monday 30 November 2009.
  • Fresh demand for HSBC shares helps the equity jump 2.3% during this morning’s session to close at a new 2009 high of €3.09. Thirteen trades amounting to 13,500 shares transacted today with best bids now placed at €3.05 whilst few other offers remain unsatisfied at the closing price.
  • Meanwhile BOV edges 1.1% lower dropping back to the €3.76 level on volumes of just under 6,600 shares. Best bids still at the €3.75 level whilst some other offers remaining unsatisfied at the last trading price. The Bank scheduled its Annual General Meeting for 16 December during which shareholders will be asked to approve a number of resolutions including the final gross dividend of €0.215 per share and a 1 for 4 bonus issue.
  • GO jumps a further 1.3% to also close at a fresh 2009 high of €1.895 (a price level last seen in December 2008). Volumes decline to just 3,000 shares this morning with best bids at the €1.85 level whilst further offers outstanding at the closing price.
  • Middlesea wipes out yesterday’s increase as the share price drops by 13.3% to close at a new all-time low of €0.65 on increased volumes of 32,232 shares. Best bids placed at €0.60 whilst lowest offers now pitched at the €0.69 level. During last Friday’s Extraordinary General Meeting, shareholders approved all resolutions including the Rights Issue.   • Marginal increases in both IHI and IHG Holdings. IHI edges 1.3% higher to €0.81 on a single trade of 5,912 shares. Meanwhile the share price of Island Hotels closes 1% higher at €1.02.
  • Medserv trades unchanged at its 2009 high of €4.00 level with lowest offers now placed at the €4.05 level.
  • A single trade of 240 GlobalCapital shares transacted at €1.065, representing a 6.5% increase from its previous close. Meanwhile a further 400 Datatrak shares change hands at €0.07.
