Mixed share price movements across local equities
The MSE Equity Price Index fell by 0.26% to a fresh fifteen-month low of 3,680.248 points as the declines in IHI, MIA, MaltaPost, PG and Quinco outweighed the gains in APS, BMIT, BOV and Mapfre Middlesea. GO plc was the most actively traded equity for the second consecutive session as it closed unchanged at the €2.50 level after recovering from an intraday low of €2.46 (-1.6%) over thirteen trades totalling 32,717 shares.
HSBC Bank Malta plc closed unchanged at the €1.41 level over five deals totalling 18,945 shares.
Computime Holdings plc held the €0.50 level on two deals amounting to 2,000 shares.
Trident Estates plc traded flat at the €1.04 level as 1,887 shares changed hands.
Simonds Farsons Cisk plc held the €4.90 level on one deal of 1,446 shares.
Hili Properties plc held the €0.22 level on a single trade of 5,600 shares.
International Hotel Investments plc fell by 2.2% to the €0.45 level on one deal of 4,153 shares.
Also among large companies by market value, Malta International Airport plc decreased by 1.7% to the €5.85 level over four trades totalling 2,553 shares.
MaltaPost plc moved 0.9% lower to the €0.44 level across three deals amounting to 2,240 shares.
Quinco Holdings plc slumped by 18.5% to the €1.06 level albeit on just a single trade of 1,446 shares.
PG plc declined by 0.5% to the €1.83 level over five trades amounting to 10,200 shares.
On the other hand, APS Bank plc rose by 2.1% to the €0.48 level on two deals totalling 5,170 shares.
Bank of Valletta plc moved 0.5% higher to the €1.87 level over seven trades amounting to 19,324 shares. Year-to-date trading activity in BOV now amounts to €16.9 million, which is just above last year’s annual trading activity of BOV. BOV accounted for 42% of all trading value in equities so far this year.
Mapfre Middlesea plc increased by 0.8% to the €1.31 level on a single deal of 1,250 shares.
BMIT Technologies plc increased by 2.7% to the €0.308 level over nine deals totalling 81,650 shares
The RF MGS Index rose by 0.21% to a fresh three-month high of 916.792 points as yesterday, the Chair of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell acknowledged that the US labour market remained subdued despite that other data is pointing towards a stronger economy. Furthermore, Mr Powell commented that based on current data, the outlook for employment and inflation did not change much since the Federal Reserve’s last meeting in September, where rates were cut for the first time in 2025 by 25 basis points.
