Farsons shares rise following higher H1 profits

The MSE Equity Price Index fell by 0.47% to 3,793.196 points as the declines in BOV, IHI, Medserv, and Trident outweighed the gains in BMIT, Malita, and Farsons. Simonds Farsons Cisk plc increased by 0.8% to the €6.25 level across nine trades amounting to 2,670 shares. Following the close of yesterday’s trading, Farsons published its interim financial results for the six-month period ended 31 July 2025 which showed that both the beverage and food businesses generated higher revenues and operating profit when compared to the same period in the previous year. The Group’s profit for the period increased by 6.5% to €9.4 million. The Directors also resolved to distribute a cash interim dividend out of tax-exempt profits of €0.065 per share, which is 8.3% higher than the interim dividend of last year. Furthermore, the Board also declared a dividend ‘in kind’ of €1.30 per share which shall be settled through the distribution of the entire shareholding in Quinco Holdings plc to shareholders on a pro rata basis to the number of shares held in the company. Both the cash dividend and the ‘in kind’ dividend will be distributed to shareholders as at close of trading on Friday 26 September 2025. The shares of Quinco Holdings plc are expected to be admitted to the Official List of the Malta Stock Exchange on 6 October, with trading to commence on 7th October. The cash dividend will be paid on 16 October 2025.

Malita Investments plc rebounded by 2.3% to the €0.45 level on a single deal of 3,450 shares.

BMIT Technologies plc gained 1.3% to the €0.31 level on one trade of 19,300 shares. BMIT is hosting an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 30 September 2025 with a proposed resolution seeking shareholder approval for the acquisition of 49,642,139 ordinary shares in the issued share capital of Malta Properties Company plc, which represent 49% of the total issued share capital of MPC.

Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc shed 0.5% to the €1.86 level over five deals totalling 19,357 shares.

International Hotel Investments plc plummeted by 6.1% to the €0.432 level on a single trade of 8,944 shares.

Trident Estates plc declined by 0.9% to the €1.05 level on one deal of 2,205 shares. Trident is expected to publish its interim financial results for the six-month period ended 31 July 2025 tomorrow.

A single trade of 3,500 shares pulled the share price of MedservRegis plc 2.8% lower to the €0.53 level.

HSBC Bank Malta plc traded flat at the €1.43 level as 43,519 shares changed hands.

Malta International Airport plc held the €5.95 level on one deal of 555 shares.

Main Street Complex plc remained unchanged at the €0.191 level on two trades amounting to 19,000 shares.

MaltaPost plc held the €0.444 level over trivial volumes.

The RF MGS Index decreased by 0.04% to a three-week low of 907.811 points. Data released today showed that the annualised economic growth in the US during Q2 2025 was 3.8%, compared to the 3.3% which was anticipated, marking the strongest performance since Q3 2023. Moreover, quarter over quarter growth stood at 2.1% compared to expectations of 2.0%. Additionally, the number of Americans filing for unemployment last week amounted to 218,000 which marked the lowest figure in the last two months.
