Malta International Airport plc - February Traffic Results

On 4 March, Malta International Airport plc published the February 2013 traffic results. The statistics reveal a 4.2% increase in passenger movements to an all-time high for the month of February of 176,818 when compared to the same month last year. The increased passenger traffic was due to a 1.8 percentage point rise in the average seat load factor to a record 71% as well as a 1.6% growth in capacity to 249,144 seats. The figures for the month of February represent the eleventh consecutive monthly record with respect to passenger statistics.

The airport operator stated that double-digit growth was registered by the Libyan (+67.3%), French (+19.4%) and Italian (+16.3%) markets. A 7.4% increase in UK passengers was also recorded in February whilst the German market registered a 5.8% decrease.

During the first two months of the year, passenger traffic grew by 6.1% due to the 3.9% increase in seat capacity as well as the 1.4 percentage point increase in the seat load factor.
