A negative day for local equities

 

The MSE Equity Price Index dropped by 0.77% to 3,990.691 points as eight equities posted declines whilst RS2 and Mapfre Middlesea ended unchanged. Trading volumes improved to €0.32 million largely reflecting increased activity in MIA. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Malta International Airport plc shed 1.7% to the €5.70 level across 19,627 shares.

GO plc moved to a new 2020 low of €3.30 (-2.4%) on a total of 8,860 shares.

Also among the large companies, HSBC Bank Malta plc (10,372 shares) and Bank of Valletta plc (21,552 shares) lost 1% to €0.95 and €1.01 respectively.

A single deal of 12,500 shares forced the equity of PG plc to ease by 0.5% to the €1.97 level.

The worst performing equity today was BMIT Technologies plc with a drop of 2.9% to the €0.476 level on overall activity of 129,273 shares.

MaltaPost plc and Malta Properties Company plc drifted 1.7% lower to €1.18 and €0.57 respectively albeit on light trading activity.

Meanwhile, RS2 Software plc maintained its recent high of €2.40 on a total of 18,250 shares.

Mapfre Middlesea plc traded flat at the €2.20 level across 2,500 shares.

The RF MGS Index trended higher for the fourth consecutive day as it added a further 0.06% to 1,099.289 points. Economic data across the euro area was encouraging reflecting strong rebounds in manufacturing and services PMIs amid further gradual resumption of economic activity.
