Malta International Airport plc - Update on Operations

On 11 June 2020, Malta International Airport plc provided an update on the upcoming resumption of operations on 1 July 2020 following a three-month lull in commercial activity due to the ‘COVID-19’ pandemic. In this respect, MIA explained that together with the Malta Tourism Authority, it has been working closely with partner airlines to start restoring Malta’s connectivity as travel restrictions in Europe are gradually being eased. Six airlines will be offering direct connections to 17 airports in nine countries and regions, including Sicily, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg, for the period between July and October 2020. Moreover, the initial Summer 2020 flight schedule is regularly being updated to reflect the most recent developments.

Meanwhile, MIA also noted that in May, it handled just 3,081 passengers compared to 674,101 in the same period in 2019.
