Daily Market Highlights (08.06.11)

  • The MSE Share Index back into positive territory as it edged 0.2% higher to regain the 3,372.135 points-level on the back of marginal increases in HSBC and BOV. Meanwhile the other four active equities closed unchanged. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary. On the local bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged a further 0.1% lower to 973.647 points as benchmark Eurozone yields regained the 3.06%.
  • HSBC completely recoups last Monday’s 0.3% drop as its share price rose by 0.7% today to regain the €2.96 level. 9,500 shares exchanged this morning with best bids in the market now at €2.95 whilst lowest offers placed at the €2.97 level.
  • BOV’s share price moved minimally higher during this morning’s session to close at the €2.741 level across nine trades totalling almost 14,650 shares. Best bids still in the market at €2.74 whilst lowest offers now pitched at the €2.75 level.
  • GO again recovers from an intra-day low of €1.35 to close unchanged at the €1.379 level. Four trades amounting to 4,480 shares transacted today with offers already placed lower at the €1.37 level. This afternoon, the quad-play operator is scheduled to hold its Annual General Meeting during which shareholders will be asked to approve a number of resolutions including a significantly reduced net dividend payout of €0.05 per share.
  • A single trade of 3,360 MIA shares executed at the €1.74 level, unchanged from the previous close. The airport operator is shortly expected to publish the May traffic results.
  • RS2 also held on to the €0.499 level across two trades totalling 15,000 shares. Further offers unsatisfied at the closing price as opposed to bids placed at the €0.451 level. RS2 is scheduled to hold its Annual General Meeting next week.
  • MaltaPost unchanged at the €1.02 level across one deal of just over 2,100 shares. Other bids outstanding at the closing price whilst lowest offers still in the market at the €1.05 level.
  • This morning Lombard Bank announced that its Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on 23 August to consider and approve the Group’s half-yearly financial statements. Equity inactive today with lowest offers pitched at the last closing price of €2.84 whilst best bids placed at the €2.70 level.
