Daily Market Highlights (15.12.10)

  • MSE Share Index up for the eight successive session closing at a new 4-month high of 3,532.362 points. HSBC and Farsons on the rise today with the other three active equities closing unchanged. Download a copy of today’s Equity Market Summary.
  • Meanwhile indicative bid prices of Malta Government Stocks again revised lower as the benchmark 10-year Eurozone yield rises over the 3% level. The bid price of the 4.6% MGS 2020 (II) declined by 56 basis points to 101.24%, substantially below its recent all-time high of 106.87%.
  • Following yesterday’s 3.1% rise, HSBC’s share price edged another 0.7% higher to reach the €3.04 level. Four trades amounting to 12,000 shares transacted today with further bids unsatisfied at the closing price with lowest offers pitched at the €3.095 level.
  • Meanwhile BOV‘s equity again unchanged at the €3.77 level on increased volumes of over 26,700 shares. Further offers outstanding at the last traded price whilst best bids now placed at the €3.755 level. Investors acquiring BOV shares until 7 January 2011 will be entitled to the 1 for 5 bonus issue. BOV’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday with the final net dividend of €0.104 per share payable on Friday 17 December.
  • GO fails to recover from yesterday’s 1% drop as the equity trades unchanged at the €1.90 level across two deals totalling 2,500 shares.
  • Simonds Farsons Cisk equity climbs 1.2% higher to the €1.72 level on increased volumes of over 12,000 shares. Further bids outstanding at the last traded price with lowest offers at the €1.75 level.
  • Lombard Bank unchanged at the €2.57 level on low volumes amounting to just 3,527 shares. Further offers in the market at the closing price.
