Daily Market Highlights (18.07.2019)

GO, RS2 & MIA dominate market activity

 

The MSE Equity Price Index resurfaced above the 4,800 mark as it advanced by 0.69% to 4,820.242 points. Several equities trended higher today whilst three companies ended the day unchanged. Meanwhile, trading activity was boosted by the considerable volume amounting to €0.58 million transacted in GO, RS2 and MIA. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

GO plc added 0.4% to the €4.56 level after briefly touching the €4.60 level. A total of 54,857 shares traded having a market value of €0.25 million.

RS2 Software plc regained the €1.81 level (+0.6%) after opening at a low of €1.75 (-2.8%). A total of 95,000 shares changed hands.

Also among the large companies, Malta International Airport plc rose 2.1% to the €7.15 level on activity totalling 21,985 shares. The airport operator is due to publish its interim financial results on Thursday 25 July. The Directors will also consider the payment of an interim dividend.

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc also performed positively today with a gain of 3% to the €10.30 level across 5,878 shares.

A single deal of 41,835 shares pushed the equity of FIMBank plc 2.4% higher to the USD0.63 level. The trade finance specialist is due to publish its interim financial results on 8 August.

Loqus Holdings plc surged by almost 27% to the €0.085 level albeit on trivial volumes.

In the property segment, Tigné Mall plc recaptured the €0.89 level (+1.1%) across 32,625 shares whilst two deals totalling 6,150 shares lifted the equity of Malita Investments plc 0.6% higher to €0.865.

Meanwhile, PG plc traded unchanged at the €1.60 level across 57,105 shares.

Bank of Valletta plc maintained the €1.14 level across 58,628 shares.

Similarly, Lombard Bank Malta plc held on to the €2.30 level on volumes totalling 10,025 shares. The bank is due to publish its interim financial results on 21 August.

Plaza Centres plc announced that its Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on 31 July to consider and approve the interim financial statements for the six-month period ended 30 June 2019. Likewise, Medserv plc stated that it will publish its interim financial statements on 30 August. Both equities remained inactive today.

The RF MGS Index advanced for the third consecutive day as it added a further 0.16% to 1,147.292 points. Today’s movements in the prices of Malta Government Stocks reflected heightened concerns over global trade amid various uncertainties across the world’s largest economies including the US, China, the EU, India, Japan and South Korea.
