MSE Equity Price Index rebounds on subdued activity

 

The MSE Equity Price Index climbed 0.39% to 3,940.077 points as trading across local equities remained muted. BOV, BMIT and GlobalCapital posted strong gains whilst MIA, RS2 and Harvest trended in negative territory. Meanwhile, another four companies closed the day unchanged. Malta International Airport plc eased 0.8% lower back to the €4.96 level across 4,166 shares.

RS2 Software plc lost 2.5% to the €1.95 level albeit on just 5,000 shares.

A single deal of 1,100 shares forced the equity of Harvest Technology plc to drop by 0.7% to the €1.49 level.

In contrast, BMIT Technologies plc advanced 3.9% to the €0.478 level across 1,000 shares.

Bank of Valletta plc regained the €1.04 level (+4%) on trivial volumes.

Following yesterday’s upsurge of more than 24%, GlobalCapital plc rallied by a further 15.4% to the €0.33 level across 23,255 shares.

Malita Investments plc (7,843 shares) and Malta Properties Company plc (4,100 shares) traded flat at €0.89 and €0.54 respectively.

A single deal of 4,299 shares left the equity of MaltaPost plc at the €1.17 level.

HSBC Bank Malta plc remained at the €0.97 level across 8,322 shares.

The RF MGS Index advanced for the first time in five days as it edged 0.09% higher to 1,108.411 points. Fresh data across the eurozone was encouraging as confidence among manufacturing and services purchasing managers recovered more strongly than previously estimated. Meanwhile, in the US, jobless claims increase by a further 2.4 million to a total of 38.6 million since the outbreak of ‘COVID-19’.
