 MSE Equity Price Index drops to three-week low

 

The MSE Equity Price Index declined for the fifth consecutive session as it eased by a further 0.50% to a three-week low of 3,779.620 points, reflecting the declines in BOV, MIA, BMIT and VBL. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Most of today’s trading value was concentrated on VBL plc as a single deal of 500,000 shares pulled the share price 8.7% lower to an all-time low of €0.19.

Bank of Valletta plc posted a three-day negative streak as it shed a further 1.6% to an over two-week low of €1.27 across three trades totalling 4,753 shares.

Also among large equities by market cap, Malta International Airport plc moved 0.9% lower to the €5.70 level on lacklustre volumes. MIA shareholders as of the close of today’s trading will receive a net interim dividend of €0.03 per share, payable by not later than Friday 15 September 2023.

BMIT Technologies plc declined by 1.9% to the €0.41 level on a single trade of 21,500 shares.

The RF MGS Index moved slightly lower by 0.09% to 866.230 points. International sovereign bond yields continued to sustain elevated levels, with the German 10-year bund yield climbing to the 2.7% level and the US 10-year treasury yield at the 4.3% level. Market participants await the US policymakers’ comments at Federal Reserve’s annual symposium which begins on Thursday. Meanwhile, oil prices and European natural gas prices extended gains from the previous weeks, albeit remained well below the levels of last year.
