Three equities push MSE Equity Price Index higher

 

The MSE Equity Price Index increased by 0.35% to reach 3,578.710 points driven by the gains in Tigné Mall, GO and Malta Properties as the total trading activity in local equities remained muted at €0.06 million. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Today’s trading activity was dominated by the shares of Tigné Mall plc which surged by 8.5% to the €0.89 level across three trades totalling 50,000 shares.

Similarly, Malta Properties Company plc rose by 12.8% to the €0.37 level as 2,750 shares changed hands.

GO plc gained 2.2% to reach a two-week high of €2.78 on two deals totalling 2,500 shares.

Bank of Valletta plc closed unchanged at the €1.20 level across three trades totalling 4,165 shares. BOV is now trading ex-dividend as shareholders as at the close of trading last Friday will receive a net interim dividend of €0.03 per share on Wednesday 6 December 2023.

Also in the banking sector, APS Bank plc and FIMBank plc both remained unchanged at the €0.57 and USD0.20 levels respectively over weak volumes.

The RF MGS Index moved 0.10% higher to 871.057 points notwithstanding the remarks from a number of European Central Bank policymakers opining that it is still premature to talk about interest rate reductions in early 2024 and indicating that the prevailing levels of interest rates are likely to be retained for the next few quarters.
