MIA recaptures the €5.70 level

 

The MSE Equity Price Index increased by 0.38% to 3,727.142 points as the gains in MIA, BMIT and Mapfre Middlesea outweighed the losses in BOV, PG, and Trident. Meanwhile, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded flat at the €1.42 level on two trades of 2,476 shares. Download today’s Equity Market Summary.

Malta International Airport plc fully recovered yesterday’s losses as it rose by 3.6% to the €5.70 level across four deals totalling 3,573 shares. Yesterday, MIA announced that passenger movements during May 2024 amounted to a record 858,402, 18.2% higher than the same month last year. The passenger movements during the first five months of 2024 amounted to 3.21 million, representing an increase of 19.6% over the corresponding period last year.

BMIT Technologies plc moved 2.9% higher to €0.35 level on a single deal of 7,000 shares.

Mapfre Middlesea plc surged by 12.3% to a two-week high of €1.37 across two trades amounting to 2,213 shares.

On the other hand, Bank of Valletta plc shed 0.7% to the €1.40 level after recovering from an intraday low of €1.39 (-1.4%) across six trades amounting to 14,235 shares.

PG plc fell by 1.0% to a one-week low of €1.94 across three deals totalling 4,550 shares.

Trident Estates plc slumped by 14.1% to an all-time low of €1.10 as 7,880 shares changed hands.

The RF MGS Index reversed some of yesterday’s losses as it rose by 0.17% to 885.537 points. Data released today confirmed that inflation in Germany during May was at 2.8% in line with initial estimates. Meanwhile, in the UK, economic activity remained flat month-over-month in April, the weakest performance in the last four months. Elsewhere, in the US, inflation in May unexpectedly declined to 3.3% from 3.4% in the previous month. Core inflation slowed to 3.4%, also lower than the consensus estimate of 3.5%.
